Sourav S Bhowmick received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2001. He is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He also holds the position of Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) Fellow in Computation and Systems Biology program (2005-2008).
His current research interests include XML data management, biological data management, privacy-preserving data management, web data management and semistructured data mining.
He has published more than 80 papers in major international database conferences and journals such as VLDB, IEEE ICDE, ACM CIKM, ICDCS, ER, PKDD, IEEE TKDE, ACM CS, DKE and DEXA. Sourav is serving as a PC member of various database conferences and workshops and reviewer for various database journals. He is also serving as a program chair/co-chair of several international workshops in biological and XML data management. He is a member of the editorial boards of several international journals. He has co-authored a book entitled “Web Data Management: A Warehouse Approach” (Springers Verlag, October 2003). Sourav is a member of ACM and an affiliate member of IEEE.

Sun Aixin is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his B.A.Sc (honors) in 2001 and PhD in 2004 both from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Zhang Jun obtained his Bachelor's degree from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT) in July, 2000 and his Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in January, 2004. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Information Systems, School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
His research interests include spatial and spatio-temporal databases, Web technologies and peer-to-peer data management and dissemination.

Angela Goh is a professor and Vice-Dean (Academic) in the School of Computer Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She received her doctorate in Computation from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology(UMIST).
Her current research interests are in web services and semi-structured data and elearning.
She is a fellow of the British Computer Society, senior member of the Singapore Computer Society and member of the ACM.

Ng Wee Keong is an Associate Professor with the School of Computer Engineering and Director of the Centre for Advanced Information Systems, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his PhD from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, USA, in 1996.
He has published more than 100 refereed journal and conference articles in the area of data mining, web information systems, database and data warehousing, and software agents. His papers appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, ACM Computing Surveys, Data and Knowledge Engineering Journal, World Wide Web Journal, and other major journals. He is currently a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Database Management (JDM). He has recently co-authored a book entitled "Web Data Management", published by Springer-Verlag. He is the Program Chair for the 10th Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery in Databases (PAKDD2006) to be held in Singapore in April 2006.
He actively participates in international conference activities. He has served in the program committee of international conferences and has held tutorials, talks at conferences, and research seminars. He is a Member of IEEE Computer Society and a Member of ACM.

Huang Shell Ying is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. She obtained both her B.Sc (Eng) in Computing Science with Honours and her PhD from Imperial College, University of London.
Her research interests are in simulations, intelligent agents, multi-agent systems and algorithms.
She has been the principle investigator or co-principle investigator for a number of projects funded by NSTB (now the ASTAR), GINTIC (now the SimTech), MPA, Jurong Port Pte Ltd, Surbana Consultant and NTU with a total close to 3 millions dollars.
She has published many papers in international journals and international conferences.

Hsu Wen Jing is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University.
His research focuses on provably correct and efficient algorithms and systems.
He has special interest in Interconnection Topologies and Routing Algorithms for parallel and distributed systems. He has developed a theoretical framework for recursive, self-similar interconnection topologies. His research has led to the discovery of new families of topologies which encompass major types of interconnection networks in use. This research is very relevant to the development of Internet applications, such as the overlay topologies for peers-based systems and adaptive infrastructure for the Grid, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and sensor networks. His research has resulted in the development of real-world applications and led to industrial-sponsored research projects.
He has been responsible for more than a dozen externally-funded research projects at SCE, including major research grants supported by A*STAR and MPA. The large-scale projects have been managed, carried out and delivered under his supervision. Three of his technical papers have been nominated for Best Paper Awards in international conferences (ACM Parallel and Distributed Simulation, IEEE Automation, and IASTED Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems). Two of his PhD students (Vee/Loh) have been nominated for SCE's Best Doctoral Dissertation Award.

Hui Siu Cheung is an Associate Professor in the Division of Information Systems, School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He received his B.Sc. degree in Mathematics in 1983 and D. Phil in 1987 from the University of Sussex, UK.
He worked in IBM China/Hong Kong Corporation as a system engineer/Instructor from 1987 to 1990.
His current research interests include data mining, Web mining, Semantic Web, intelligent systems and information retrieval.

Narendra S. Chaudhari is with Division of Information Systems, School of Computer Engineering (SCE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, as an Associate Professor since Dec. 2001. He has obtained Ph.D., M.Tech. (Computer Science), and B.Tech. in Elec. Engg. (with Distinction) degrees from I.I.T. Bombay (India) in 1988, 1983 and 1981 respectively.
He has been Fellow, Institute of Electronics and Telecom Engineers (IETE), India since 2000, and member of many professional societies. Currently he has an active collaboration with ST Engg. for the development of AI Based war-game framework, and he has been PI of the related project.
His research interests are in the areas of neural networks, rule extraction methods, optimization algorithms, and theoretical computer science. He has successfully guided more than ten Ph.D. students in Computer Science and Engg. He has more than 120 publications and four books to his credit.

Amitabha Das obtained his PhD. In Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1991, and a B.Tech (1st Class Honours) in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur in 1985.
He is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, and a senior member of IEEE.
His current research interests include Wireless and Sensor Networks, Network Security and Intrusion Detection using Data mining techniques. He has over sixty publications in refereed journals and conferences.

Miao Chun Yan received her PhD from School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University.
Her research interests include software agent, Multi-agent system (MAS), Agent Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE), Service Oriented Software Engineering (SOSE), agent mediated semantic web/grid, and agent mediated media fusion. She is particularly interested in infusing agent technology into various application domains.
She was involved in large funded research/industry projects in Simon Fraser University Canada, SIMTech Singapore and Singapore Network Services (SNS) in the past. She is currently conducting research projects funded by NGO/SERC/A*STAR Singapore in agent mediated integrated manufacturing service systems, situated/immersive learning and education environments, distributed virtual communities and dynamic bio-service compositions.

Vivekanand Gopalkrishnan received his Ph.D from the City University of Hong Kong. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has over 12 years of work experience in software development and research. He has also taught in the areas of algorithms and databases.
His research interests include database technology, data mining and knowledge discovery. He has worked extensively in OLAP and data warehousing, encompassing various aspects of the integrated schema management, storage architectures, indexing, query optimization and materialized views. His current interests are in querying and mining biological data (genomic, proteomic, microarray) and streaming data (sensor network, time series, multimedia, spatio-temporal).

Chang Kuiyu joined NTU's School of Computer Engineering in 2003.06 as an Assistant Professor in Information Systems.
Prior to that, he served as Senior Risk Management Analyst for ClearCommerce (Texas), where he helped discover fraudulent online purchase patterns for a number of Fortune 500 clients, thereby reducing their potential losses by millions of dollars. In 2001 he co-founded Mosuma (Texas), a data-mining corporation, which provides data/text-mining services to About.com (subsidiary of Primedia group) and Akul group, both based in New York. From 2000.07 to 2002.04 he worked as a Member of Technical Staff for Interwoven (Texas), where he led the adaptation of the company’s text classification software product to handle Chinese and Japanese languages. He was also heading Interwoven’s Austin R&D division, where he supervised a total of 4 graduate interns (3 of whom were PhD candidates from the University of Texas at Austin) on developing novel data-mining algorithms, including clustering and ontology-creation. From 2000.03 to 2000.07, he was the principal architect of the startup Neonyoyo (Texas), where he co-developed a text-recommendation GUI prototype, which helped secured Neonyoyo’s first customer, and which eventually led to Neonyoyo’s acquisition by Interwoven in 2000.07 for US$70 million.
Kuiyu is a member of IEEE, ACM. He has served as publications chair for PAKDD2006, program co-chair for Intelligence and Security Informatics 2006 workshop, program committee member for SIAM Data Mining Conference 2006, SIAM Workshop on Clustering High Dimensional Data and its Applications 2002. He has co-authored 20 plus papers, of which two received Best Papers Award (Motorola1996 and ISI2005).
He received his Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University.
He has more than 15 years experience in machine learning, and has lately been focusing on statistical pattern recognition techniques and text/web-mining. He is also the inventor of Probabilistic Principal Surfaces, a novel algorithm to visualize and model high-dimensional data on a nonlinear manifold such as the sphere.

Tang Xueyan received his BEng degree in computer science and engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 1998, and his PhD degree in computer science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2003. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
He has served as a program committee member of IEEE INFOCOM'04 and WWW'05. He is an editor of a book entitled "Web Content Delivery" published by Springer.
His research interests include mobile and pervasive computing, wireless sensor networks, Web and Internet, and distributed systems, particularly the data management aspects in these areas.

Manoranjan Dash obtained his Ph.D. and M. Sc. (Computer Science) degrees from the School of Computing, NUS. He has worked in academic and research extensively and has published more than 20 research papers (mostly refereed) in various reputable machine learning and data mining journals, conference proceedings, and books.
His research interests include machine learning and data mining.
Before joining School of Computer Engineering, NTU, Singapore, as Assistant Professor, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Northwestern University. He is a member of IEEE and ACM. He has served as program committee member of IADIS International Conference (E-Society, 2004), Discovery Science (2004), AAAI 2005, and PAKDD 2005. He is the publicity co-chair of PAKDD 2006.

Anwitaman Datta obtained his Bachelor of Technology from IIT Kanpur before moving to EPF Lausanne where he did his PhD, interspersed with a summer visiting UC Berkeley. He joined NTU Singapore in 2006.
He is interested in large-scale networked distributed information systems and social collaboration networks, self-organization and algorithmic issues of these systems and networks and their scalability, resilience and performance.

Dr. Steven C. H. Hoi is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Engineering of Nanyang Technological University. He received his Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, Beijing, P.R.China, and his Master and Ph.D degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Hoi's research interests include machine learning and its applications to multimedia information retrieval, Web search and data mining, computer vision and pattern recognition. He has published over 30 referred international conference and journal papers, including IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE), IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM), ACM Multimedia System Journal, International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML), ACM SIGKDD Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining conference (KDD), ACM Multimedia conference, and International World Wide Web conference (WWW), etc.
Dr. Hoi has been often invited as a PC member or referee and reviewer for a number of premier conferences and journals, including World Wide Web (WWW) conference, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge Data Engineering (TKDE), ACM Transactions on Information System (TOIS), IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (TMM), IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI), etc. Dr. Hoi is a member of ACM and IEEE.
